Keyboard Shortcuts

The complete keyboard shortcut reference for Show Mode, Edit Mode, the Audio Deep Editor, and the Timeline window.

This is the authoritative shortcut reference for CueForge 0.99.1 beta. Shortcuts are context-sensitive: the same key can do different things in Show Mode, Edit Mode, and the Audio Deep Editor.

How shortcuts follow your keyboard layout

Note: Letter and number shortcuts match the produced character, so they follow your active keyboard layout. On an AZERTY or QWERTZ layout, the labelled letter key works — S means “the key that produces the letter S” on your layout. Layout-independent keys — Space, Tab, Escape, Enter, the arrow keys, Home/End, Page Up/Page Down, Insert/Delete, and the F-keys — always follow the physical key position.

Physical validation on non-QWERTY layouts is still being finalised as part of the worldwide-keyboard test pass. We do not claim that every international layout is verified.

Note: On macOS, Option+letter combinations may compose accented characters instead of registering as shortcuts. If the cue creation shortcuts below do not fire, use the Add menu instead — this is a known boundary currently under validation.

Global rules

  • Shortcuts are suppressed while focus is in an editable field (any text input or textarea), so typing cue names never fires transport commands.
  • Key repeat is ignored — holding a key down does not re-trigger its action.
  • Modal dialogs block transport keys until they are dismissed.
  • In Show Mode, Escape always triggers PANIC, but it closes the ? shortcut help overlay first if that overlay is open.

Show Mode

ShortcutAction
SpaceGO — fire the armed cue
EnterTake Next
SStop (two-step re-arm; blocked under Show Lock)
PPause
RResume
NNext Step (stepped video cues)
AAcknowledge memo
EscapePANIC (always works, even under Show Lock)
↑ / ↓Arm previous / next cue
← / →Collapse / expand selected group
Cmd/Ctrl+LToggle Show Lock
BToggle Blackout
TToggle Test Pattern
OToggle Output Window
?Open shortcut help overlay
Single keys under pressure

In Show Mode, prefer single-key commands. Space fires the show; Escape stops everything. Modifier combinations are for setup, not for the moment the cue lands.

ShortcutCreates
Alt+AAudio Cue
Alt+VVideo Cue
Alt+PImage Cue
Alt+WWait Cue
Alt+GGroup Cue
Alt+CCall Cue
Alt+MMemo Cue
Alt+SStop Cue
Alt+OOSC Cue

Note: On macOS, Option (mapped to Alt) may compose accented characters instead of firing these shortcuts. If they do not respond, use the Add button in the cue list. This is a known boundary under validation in the worldwide-keyboard test pass.

Audio Deep Editor

The Audio Deep Editor owns its own transport while it has focus:

ShortcutAction
SpacePlay / pause preview
SStop preview

Audition transport never contains GO or PANIC — previewing in the Deep Editor can never affect the live show. See The Audio Deep Editor.

Timeline window

ShortcutAction
SToggle snap
IToggle inspector
Cmd +/-Zoom in / out
Cmd+0Zoom to fit
← / →Pan the view
Home / EndJump to start / end of the show

Global application shortcuts

ShortcutAction
Cmd+QQuit — routes through the quit guard: with unsaved changes you are offered Save / Discard Changes / Cancel; repeated presses while the dialog is open are ignored; a failed save shows an error and aborts the quit cleanly
Cmd+NNew Project
Cmd+OOpen Project
Cmd+SSave Project
Cmd+Shift+SSave Project As
Cmd+Shift+NOpen the Start Workspace
Cmd+,Settings
Cmd+WClose window
Quit in Edit Mode

Cmd+Q quit acceptance is confirmed in Show Mode; the physical acceptance pass in Edit Mode is still being finalised. If quit does not respond while you are in Edit Mode, use CueForge → Quit CueForge from the application menu. See Troubleshooting.
